LOL 2
Trying to push the form of an actual pole vaulter. I think it'll be useful if I do some actual keyframes like this of how Apollo's movements should exaggerate, to give that "umph" and "convincing" show of power needed to make it to the moon. If you guys think its a good idea, let me know.
One of the big risks of this story is that it hinges on a climax. And a climax will absolutely fail if it is not animated in a very damn convincing way. I think a sharp, impact style paired with good anticipation suits the film alot more than a warner bros bouncy approach, but thats a bit of a bias on my part. There are a lot of interesting things about the actual pole vault sport that lend themselves to exaggeration. As one example: Check the link,

go to the 58 second mark. You'll notice the pole doesn't simply rise up, you have two large movements (other then the actual bend), where it juts forward, then juts left. Pushing things like this are what will make or break the animation, and in turn, the climax.
If what I'm trying to say doesn't make sense, I'll try to do better in person.
LOL
A mood study. Kind of looking for interesting ways to make leap, should we decide we'll follow him up there. Looks more like he's just jumping really high, getting a glimpse at the moon, rather than going to it, i like that though.
Sorry about the clouds that look like rocket streams. There are quite a few things I can fix if people aren't happy with it.

Here is my rendition of Apollo. I am not too sure about the colors of his clothes yet but i can change them at your request.
Notice the medalion he is wearing. It has a circular relife in the centre. I was thinking Apollo could hold the madalion up to the night sky and place the moon in the centre. Not until he reaches the moon will he have the full madalion. Becuase it is empty on earth.
I was thinking after his brothers death perhaps he makes the madalion in his fathers work shop.
Please tell me what you all think.

One of the most significant events of 1969 was not only the Apollo moon landing but Wood Stock! In this YouTube video is none other then the famous Jimi Hendrix playing the song Purple Haze. Please pay close attention to the lyrics as they kind of relate to our story.
The clothes that the audiance is wearing and even Jimi him self can act as prime refrence for the hippies of our film. Guys! Apollo needs to jump over wood stock!
